Maniapoto
Ki Tāmaki
MKT was established in 2015 Maniapoto ki Tāmaki refers to the descendants of Ngāti Maniapoto who call the Auckland area home.
The group was initially established to attend the Te Nehenehenui Kapa Haka Festival. This kaupapa has given the group purpose to come together and learn about who we are as Ngāti Maniapoto through waiata, haka and pūrākau.
Each year we attend the Festival and support other iwi initiatives both inside and outside of the rohe. The three principles that underpin all our activities are Te Kotahitanga, Huangātanga and Māoritanga.
The ongoing objective of MKT is to continue providing a space for our people who live in the Auckland area to come together as Ngāti Maniapoto ki Tāmaki-makau-rau.
